I came in because I had a nail in my tire that was causing a leak. They told me I would need to pay $200 for a new tire because it was beyond repair. They made me put a $20 deposit down on a new tire. I went down the street to the other tire place and they charged me $12 to plug the hole in the tire. The guys laughed when I told them Brake-O-Rama wanted $200. I called my bank and told them what happened and they were able to get my $20 back. I had to go back to brake-o-rama to swipe my card for the deposit back, at which time the lady running the place looked very displeased with me. She asked to see the tire and with a sense of smug confidence, she blurted out to me "hope nothing happens to you on the road!"
In a previous instance, they told me they had all the equipment to do the maintenance on my vehicle. (2009 Audi A4). Sure, they were able to change the oil and rotate the tires. But they weren't able to reset my service reminder and a week or two after I took it in, they said they didn't have the computer for that and I would need to take it to the dealer. An additional $150 out of pocket for the dealership.
Its been over 2 years now and the plug in my tire has help up fine. No problems whatsoever. I would go here for simple jobs like an oil change but would not give them much more confidence than that.

This place promises things but does not deliver, and check your car before you leave the place. They will break things and will never tell you. I brought my car for simple nail in tire. Asked if they do patch or plug, was told me "we do both". Tire was never even removed from the car, they just lifted the car on the lift and put a plug in the tire. While they were lifting the car they damaged plastic covers under the car, reason: mechanic had no idea to check lift points or was just lazy to do so. Problem with broken parts was brought up to manager. Report was filed and nearly 4 weeks later I am still waiting for them to replace parts. Never will I go to this place. Stay away.

I just went to the Perth Amboy location. Stay far away. Buyer Beware. Rip off. Not professional at all. There is no way it should cost $502.92 for rear brakes on a 2009 ACURA TL. I was told one thing then told something else once the vehicle was ready. Wonder why they are not busy. Poor customer service.

THIEVES! My wife took our car to Brake-O-Rama after we got a flat tire. It took them an hour and a half to replace one tire. When my wife got back into the car, she went to get her gps out of a zipped bag in the car. THE GPS WAS GONE! When my wife confronted the front desk person about it. She said she had rolled down the window of the car and unlocked it in the garage area. She speculated a customer must have reached into the car, unzipped the bag, and made off with the GPS and all the wires without anyone noticing. Despite a large sign stating "No customers allowed in garage area", they apparently let people come and go there as they please. Needless to say, my wife called the Police on them. They have no video surveillance in the garage area of course! Only after the Police had spoke to them did they offer any kind of compensation to my wife. $45 dollars back from the used tire we bought from them for a GPS that cost us over 200 bucks. The police officer said the only recourse we had was to take them to court, which would obviously cost more than the 200 dollars we lost. DO NOT BRING YOUR CAR HERE, THEY WILL STEAL RIGHT OUT OF YOUR CAR IN THE GARAGE!

I got a groupon for an oil change, tire rotation and 64 point inspection for $20 (retail was around $90). It took about an hour and a half. After they were done, they took me back and showed me what failed on the 64-point inspection very matter-of-factly, which was very nice. I did not feel pressured to get these things done immediately, they just told me what they recommended getting done eventually.
The only thing I didn't like was that they charged me tax for the retail value of the groupon. It only ended up being $5 dollars, so not a big deal. Also, there was another charge because I own a Lexus (make sure to read the fine-print).
Overall, I still got an oil change, tire rotation and 64-point inspection for $40, which I think is a very good deal.
