My dog passed away at the hospital in May 2016. The doctor on call explained the different choices of cremation. He said that if I were to choose a communal cremation in which the ashes are not returned to me that I could still have a memento of my dog as the hospital would make a nice paw print in clay with her name on it. I agreed to that.
After weeks of calling and finally reaching the hospital Director, Mr. Paul Miranda finally got back to me only to say what I had feared the most....that the hospital never made the paw print. He said that this is not done when someone chooses a communal cremation yet the doctor on call made be believe otherwise. Had I known that from the start, I might have made a different choice. Now I am left with no memento (other than my fond memories) and a bill for over $1000.
When you bring your animal to a hospital and they are facing death, you are relying on a professional to have your best interest. How incompetent of these people to not be more careful with the information that they dispense.
