Open to pedestrians since May 2014, Heritage Park, is located in West Brighton, Staten Island and offers a passive park for the public and beautiful waterfront views of the working harbor. This park was first supported & funded by former NYC Councilman Jerome O'Donovan and Councilman Michael McMahon due to a coalition of residents and community leaders, specifically, North Shore Waterfront Greenbelt, North Shore Waterfront Conservancy and Protectors of Pine Oak Woods. Also with state support, and the support of former Assemblyman Straniere, this site was added to the NY Open Space List and eligible for acquisition funding. Trust for Public Land worked with a coalition of volunteers to obtain the park. The good timing of funding became available from the Port Authority of NY/NJ , thus securing the purchase and acquisition. Mr. Blissenbach, former owner , worked with the community to sell the property and preserve it for open space. Before being officially transferred to NYC parks, Mr. Blissenbach allowed regular access by community groups ( Livingston Civic, Girl Scouts of St. Roch's, NSWC, etc) and allowed a temporary oyster garden site by volunteers. Community Board #1 supported community demand for the park and assisted with planning process for the park.

This park is finished and open. There is an unlocked padlock on the gate, but it is open during the day. Its an okay park looking over the water and the bayonne bridge. Nothing grand, no toilets or services. A lot of noise from the recycling plant on its south side. There is a giant shipyard to its east side and a sewage plant to its westside. Until this part of the north shore becomes safe again, this park does no more than fill a government quota.

The non-existing north shore railroad easement runs along this property.

This park is not open to the public. It's been in the works since 2003, but it's still weeds behind a padlocked fence.
