Screw this place. They won't seat a party until everyone is here. Fine. Many restaurants do this. However, my friends showed up and got a table which seats 6. I show up late. 5 of them are seated and ordered. I arrive late and they tell me due to their policy that they can't let me in--even tho they have an empty seat at the table! They tell me that if I order it would mess up the kitchen. What kind of jank amateur kitchen is this? So I tell them I'd like to sit with my friends who are visiting from the other side of the country, I won't order anything. They said, well you could be lying, you could order something once you get in there. I tell them, I won't order anything. I just want to sit with my friends. Manager comes out. I tell her, they have an EMPTY seat and we will leave when they r done eating. She tells me sorry, it's our "policy" not to seat anyone additional. I said, "so you are gonna make me stand out here waiting even tho there's an empty seat and I wouldn't order anything?"
She says, "Sorry, it's our policy"
So... Screw you black tap and your dumbass made-up policy. How about you use your brains and treat people better! No burger and shake is worth such terrible and rude behavior. My friends inside complained that I wasn't being let in and the waiter gave some poor excuse that made no sense.
BTW the door is guarded by a huge bouncer who is intentionally intimidating and super rude. The line was out the door and the inside had lots of open seats. Making people wait, just to build hype. Their other location does this as well--a line outside nearly as long as the block and an entire basement seating area empty. Not cool.
Black tap, you are jerks.

I went to Black Tap for the milk shakes and absolutely loved the cookie shake. It was more over the top than all the Instagram photos!
Loved the taste and loved the environment. There are under 15 seats in the whole restaurant and it took me 2 hours to get in but it was worth it for my first experience. I would absolutely go back for the good food and the unique environment.

I visited here on a Thursday afternoon a little after 5:00 pm. We was a party of 3 and 35 minutes later we was seated. We came to try out the Burgers and of course one of those crazy milkshakes. I went with the Bison burger and the new Brooklyn blackout milkshake. Both of them were really delicious the burger was nice and moist in the middle cooked very well. The blackout milkshake was amazing and really sweet as expected. Chocolate milkshake with chocolate chips inside and on the cup and to top it off with a few pieces of brownies. Inside the restaurant was really dim like most restaurants and the walls near the tables had graffiti giving it that old school New York feeling. Our server took care of us and didn't forget anything. This location is way bigger than the other location in Soho. #BlackTapThat

Black tap that!!!!
I've been seeing this restaurant on Instagram for a few weeks and decided it was time to try it out for myself and I must say it was worth the 40 minute wait in line (which depending on which location you visit it can be 2 hours) This location is located in the meatpacking district and is way bigger than the Soho location. People come here for the crazy shakes but I must say the burgers are also great!!! Once inside our waiter took great care of us and got all of our orders correct without writing it down. I got the turkey burger and my husband got the bison. Now it was desert time I got the cookie shake and he got the Brooklyn blackout. Both very delicious definitely takes care of your sweet tooth we both felt chocolate wasted after. The shakes are $15 each (yes I know it's a lot but we already live here so it's not that bad to us). We both got a burger with fries and a drink and of course a milk shake each and the bill was only $80 and we left full and satisfied.

The burgers were on point here. The shake was delish! Definitely a place to go back to. A little dark but it's a great ambiance. Even kids can go here. I love it.
