FROZEN FRENCH FRIES SERVED IN AN "AUTHENTIC FRENCH BISTRO"???
Had lunch on Friday at Bistro Citron which touts itself as a "true French Bistro Experience." When you walk in the door it is charming and feels as though you have truly stepped into a neighborhood bistro in Paris. But that's where the authenticity ends. First, the service was lackluster at best. Though relatively few diners -- only three other tables occupied -- we waited over 20 minutes before we were even asked for our drink order, had to ask several times for bread to be served with the escargot we ordered, and could not get the waiter's attention for additional wine during the meal, which, when finally ordered, he failed to bring. The "French Bistro experience" was further marred by the salsa [!!!) music blasting over the sound system throughout our entire meal -- salsa music, really?? But, in true French fashion, those could be tolerated if the food had been good. Unfortunately , that was not the case. The French onion soup two of us had ordered was burnt to a crisp -- the 'melted' gruyere a hockey puck of stiff, brown cardboard. The escargot were fine, but we had to ask several times for bread to be served to accompany the meal -- who eats escargot without bread for dipping into the sauce?? And, worst of all, the steak frites [a classic and simple meal of steak and fried potatoes, the mainstay of most French bistros] not only had meat so tough that it was difficult to cut, but was served with over-cooked and obviously FROZEN french fries -- not freshly cooked potatoes -- which had the texture and taste of Burger King rejects! When I mentioned the frozen frites to our waiter, he simply shook his head 'yes' that they were frozen, and then shrugged as if to say 'so what?' Sadly, what we had anticipated to be a nice, simple, and satisfying 'French Bistro experience', turned out to be a dud at best. Perhaps it was an off day? Perhaps the regular chef was off for Good Friday? Perhaps they simply no longer care. All in all, I would not go back.

I liked the setting more than the food. We had Coquilles St. Jacques which was tasty but not very memorable. Hangar steak was average. Typical french bistro fare.

WE've come here regularly for over 4 years...liked the chicken and put up with the patronizing service because of the convenience. . ToNIGHT was over the top. We sat at the bar and each ordered a burger, sharing one bottle of wine. ONe burger arrived as ordered, the other arrived differently than ordered and so we asked for its revision. We were told that we needed to wait 10 minutes for the right order to arrive.
Looking for the minimum of at least an apology, we were offered an insult and ANOTHER 10 minutes wait. One of us at alone. And then the other ate alone. NEVER AGAIN. The correct response would have been an apology and an adjustment on the check... but just, upon our request for service, an insult. BAD LOSS. ARROGANT, INSULTING
