Bistro 18

What a disaster. If you are looking for a place to celebrate a special occasion, Bistro 18 is NOT it. Our New Years Eve was ruined by the lack of professionalism of this "restaurant" and was exacerbated by the nasty attitude of the owner, who should consider being humble vs. antagonistic in the face of abject failure. The tables around us were abuzz with dissatisfaction when, despite advance reservations and the fact that tables were still being seated at 9:30 on 12/31, the restaurant was basically out of food. With no special New Years Eve menu in place, the owner simply pumped up the prices on their usually menu, charging $31 for a $23 chicken dinner and a $24 Tilapia entree and $16 for the usual $10 Spring Rolls. Imagine our surprise when four of us ordered the lamb shank, pork chop, hangar steak and tuna, only to be advised that they were out of 6 of the 9 available entrees and we had a choice of chicken, tilapia and pasta. Seriously?! When we asked the poor server to see the owner, he was surly at best and basically told us we we welcome to go somewhere else...which we did. There is nothing that special about this restaurant under the best of circumstances. Why give your money to an ungrateful owner when there are so many wonderful and appreciative small businesses in our area? Bistro 18 is DEFINITELY off our list.

WE had a reservation for four at 9:30 pm on New Years Eve and the owner was rude to us and sat us next to a service area with dirty linens and dirty dishes. They had the same menu as usual but marked everything up to $31 for entrees and $16 for small apps. When the waiter came by to take our dinner order after an hour, he said that they were out of half the main entrees and we could order talapia, chicken , or a pasta dish. Everything else was gone already . We had to scramble to find dinner elsewhere, as it was now past 10:30 pm on New Years Eve. When we told the owner we were sorry but we will never be back, he said" Well Im not sorry"

I LOVE this place! I highly recommend it!

My daughter and I happened upon it this noon while out shopping for her wedding dress. We were looking for something light and healthy.. They advertised that they had light, healthy organic food so we went in!

I am SO glad we did!
The service was great. The Iced tea fresh and perfectly steeped. With our drinks they served an outstanding (and different) caponata with toast crisps and bread.

We both got the Bistro Salad and half a sandwich. (We could have split a the HALF of a sandwich and still had plenty!) This was served with a handful (just the right amount in my opinion) of the BEST french fries I have ever had! Seriously! Crispy on the outside and perfectly cooked on the inside. Flavorful and not too salty.

The Bistro Salad was to die for! The baby arugula was fresh, the candied walnuts a perfect complement, the dressing light and not too oily, the dried cherries and golden raisins went nicely with thre arugula and dressing! They don't serve the Bistro Salad at dinner but I asked the waiter if one could request it. He thought that could be arranged.. but the evening salads also look excellent!

We sure didn't NEED dessert but they had a daily special of Key Lime Tart which is one of my daughter's favorites. We split one! Outstanding! Creamy and the perfect blend of sweet and tart. The coffee delightful and served in a large mug!

We were satisfied... in mind and body...and my daughter still looked as great in a size 6 wedding dress AFTER lunch as she did before!

We would have gone back for dinner tonight but they are totally booked! Make sure to call early for a reservation on the weekend! (I will have to celebrate my 60 th birthday somewhere else...but it would have been here if they could have taken us!)

Everyting was terrific. Service was exceptional. Loved the home-made soup.
