Visit date was last month in August 2015, 3- adults for dinner. Arrived 5:30 on a Saturday, easy access and parking in recently paved area. Overall the food, choices and service were exemplary. We were immediately greeted and seated in a booth. There is a seating limit of approximately 18. We were met immediately by a friendly and knowledgeable gentleman and we knew in advance about BYOB and cash only. He brought over plastic-ware for our beer and wine (I'm not that fussy at this level of comfort food restaurant that I need fine glassware, LOL) We tried the Fried green tomatoes (thick and awesome), mac and cheese (superb and tasty) as appetizers, then Brisket, Shrimp and ribs, yams, beans and of course dessert, apple cobbler and key lime pie. I have been to ever BBQ location on Long Island both chains and family owned. There are only two things I would change, 1. Please put back up shades or curtains or even reflective film on the windows, way too bright and warm. 2. Could you move a bit closer towards Suffolk County.
Thanks, great experience.

Went there twice with a few people and everyone was happy with their meal. They appear to use very fresh ingredients. I highly recommend it. It's a small place a little in a sort of industrial area, but the food is great. When we first went there it was night and when I was a few blocks away I was almost sure I must of made a wrong turn. We had BBQ chicken, Smoke BBQ ribs, Chicken Fried Beefsteak, TurDucKen Friend Chicken & Waffles and kids Chicken fingers.

I normally don't write reviews - if a restaurant is bad, I just never go back. However, I wish I had heeded the previous poster's advice and stayed far, far away from this place...please do yourself a favor and do the same.
The 1-star is for the hush puppies - the only edible dish my husband and I had, and a good portion of it too, which is good b/c the rest of meal was simply unsatisfactory. It came out piping hot and tasted like donuts, though I didn't understand the honey mustard dipping sauce that came with it.
The one dish I wanted to try here was the chicken & waffles. How hard could that be to make, right? Well, the fried chicken was nothing special - they are on par with Popeye's or KFC. Small, full of breading. It was crispy, though - I'll give them that. The waffles on the other hand were floppy, doughy pieces of rubber. I prefer my waffles crisp on the outside, fluffy on the inside - doesn't everyone? They did not provide syrup, instead they serve them with "honey & raspberry butter". The butter was old, did not taste fresh at all...nothing worse than old butter that tastes like it's been sitting in the fridge, uncovered for too long.
My husband got the catfish po'boy. And being that I don't like fish, I didn't want to try it but forced myself to taste if the fish was fresh. It had that slight "fishy" flavor which, should not exist if the fish is fresh. Not sure why I expected it to be... my husband ate it, even though it was void of any flavor/sauce/seasoning.
Lastly, the "ambiance" is overrated. Sure, it's railway car exterior is cute and the inside is relatively clean - but there was a smell that reminded me of a hospital as soon as I stepped in. Not what I want to be reminded of when I'm about to have a meal. Shouldn't a place that small be wafting of delicious aromas of food? Nope. It smelled sterile. It makes me wonder if they do any actual "cooking".
Places like these is why I don't have any faith in the Long Island food scene. Please, if you want good bbq or "comfort food', don't come here. Make a trip to the city and go to Hill Country BBQ, or Mighty Quinn's (and many others!), or Butcher Bar in Astoria. You'll spend a little more but you won't hate yourself afterwards.
