Better Than Jam's STORE & STUDIO

Very interesting, unique pieces to be found at Better Than Jam! Love their clothing and accessories made by independent local designers, as well as the shop owner herself. Also really digging the art supply section, it's hard to find supplies elsewhere in Bushwick!

Great handmade boutique that carries a number of items made by local artists - clothing, artwork, housewares, and jewelry. It also has a nice art and craft supply section that has a little of everything you need. Owned by a maker herself, with her silkscreening studio in the back. Highly recommended for anyone looking for unique items!

Such a great store. Handmade items from so many locally based and sustainable artists. They also have art and craft supplies too. The prices are perfect, you get great quality and affordable prices for your purchase.

Better Than Jam is one of my favorite stores in NYC simply because it is full of cool stuff hand made by creatives that I can afford. It's not overpriced so I could afford a variety of gifts for the holiday season and not be busted broke after. It's a diverse mixture: denim messenger bags with teeth, very unique hand-made dresses with hand dyed/screened fabric, cool ties, adorable and scary-cute hand made stuffed animals and tons of cool Jewelry- some naclaces with casts of human teeth and odd animal bones are my fave. I got a nice T rex vs. Robot T there for myself.. Also there are many affordable flat arts by locals as well as (recently) art supplies. I think they might have classes now and again. The owner is a nice & down to earth person. Her ethics are on point and she gently turns down outsourced wares to keep it really real. Support this place.

We don't get very often to Bushwick, but whenever we do we find something great at BTJ. Not being very creative myself, I am always in awe of the creativity of the local artists/designers/makers represented there.

I also like the whole "Shops at the Loom" concept; the Kave coffee bar is a great place to relax after shopping at BTJ (or while the wife keeps shopping there).
