Reviews to Bergenline Animal Hospital: Wisegarver Fred DVM
As an 'unlikely' new cat (plural with the strays) owner I found myself at the local Bergenline Animal Hospital a few weeks back, as they're in close proximity to my new home. One of my adopted strays 'Peanut' had a bit of an eye infection issue.
From the first point of contact...Gail I believe her name is...most kind, to Dr. Wisegarver, my experience was very positive and better still Peanut's eye problem was diagnosed properly and medicated and corrected perfectly. I found Dr. W and his staff to be very caring and accessible folks. I would recomend this local business to anyone.

I have to disagree with Camencita A.
1. The doctors are HIGHLY educated. And they are passionate and care about the animals. Dr. R comes to work 30 mins to an hour early EVERY single day at 630 and stays until 7pm everyday. and Dr. F not only work at BAH he works at Emerson as well. Isn't this dedication enough?
And the staff are some of thee most amazing and welcoming people you will ever meet. Chances are, if you are upset and crying, they will be right there by your side, crying with you.
2. Pet Insurance. if you have this for a pet you need to do some research. it is a WASTE of money and most of the time, people do not even get back 80 percent or even 60 percent of reimbursement. It is better to just save the money you spend every month to pay these companies for a REAL emergency that your pet may have. With insurances, you have to get reimbursed, which means you pay now, and you might get some money back. if you were in a situation where your pet has an emergency, you will have to put out and be prepare to spend 3,000 out of the pocket right then and there. Insurance wont be helpful at that point.
3. Small animal CLINIC. it is a small animal clinic. They do not need to carry expensive equipment like an ultrasound machine. Most animal hospitals with a staff of over 8 or 10 have expensive equipment. In the North Bergen area, most owners are not willing to spend 500+ for an ultrasound. if your animal is in need of this, i sugguest you head to an emergency clinic. nearly 60 percent of animal clinics WILL NOT have an ultrasound at hand. This is a clinic not an emergency hospital.
As far as in house bloodwork. Once again, this is a small clinic, they have out services for this. Most hospitals DO NOT have in house blood work they send it out.
4. North Bergen.
The area is crowded and overpopulated. This is NOT the clinics fault. It is actually very smart business investment. You have to keep the clinic up and running right? If someone does not want to spend 5 minutes finding parking, then find another clinic and do not complain.
5. The comment about 'It's very likely that because of their location that they have had to deal with a language and culture barrier with irresponsible pet owners and enough years…' that was VERY unnecessary. That seems like a ignorant statement made by a incompetent person. The language appears to be spanish in that area. It is not some distant language like Dutch or Chinese like you are making it to be. I happen to be hispanic and I have 6 cats that are most likely healthy than any cats around. So, your ignorance only shows your lack of intelligence.
6. Research on the internet to diagnose your animals illness? Anyone knows better than to do that. If you are going to play doctor, why bother going to an animal hospital? Think. Think. Think.
And last, They weigh cats in their cat carriers and then subtract the weight using a simple formula most pet owners know. If you do not know the formula for it, what point are you making? Almost all clinics and hospitals have one scale for ALL pets. Dogs and cats.
I have been taking all of my animals to this clinic for over the past 2 years and have NOT had one complaint. The staff along with the doctors are passionate and CARE. :-)

We rescued a kitten and the doctor prescribed accordingly. Was very polite. We'll take more kittens here. Prices a lot better than NYC animal hospitals
