I am French and a big food lover.
I regularly travel and try new restaurants and dishes.
We went there for restaurant week - Same prices as the regular menu, so not worth it.
We had a reservation for 9pm. The first waiter was very friendly, showed us our table and gave us recommendations. We ordered Naan bread, appetizers and entrées. 10 minutes later everything was brought to us at once. Every minute a waiter stopped by and asked us if we were done and if he could take the plates. At least 5 times. We were not even done with the appetizers and they asked us if we wanted everything to go. The food was ok, but no one likes to eat with that atmosphere. We then decided to go after only 20 minutes.
The surprise came with the check. Everything you order has to be paid separately. The bread, that comes with the menu, because we ordered it before the main dish, the sauce, even the rice for the main dish is extra. Makes a $35 dinner a $50 one. They then even told us that the 18% gratuity is NYC law. After a discussion with the manager we got insulted and told, that they make enough money anyways. Seriously. This attitude is a joke. Good thing that there are many good Indian restaurants in the city.
