I do not think anyone should ever take their pet to a vet that prefers surgery over noninvasive healing methods.
I can not begin to explain the terror this office gave us. Not only did 3 different doctors call within 1 week but every time there was either a mix up or just flat out wrong information.
Our dog was experiencing difficulty urinating so we took her in, got x-rays and it was determined she had bladder stones. Of course I am aware there are different types of stones and it was quite possible that she may have to have surgery.
We were given a stone dissolving food and antibiotic and within 10 days from the diagnosis we received a call saying we should schedule surgery for the next coming Monday.
Something did not seem right to me and I didn't care if I had to start from the beginning and pay for the same tests again but THANKFULLY I went to get a second opinion.
Long story short - our 2nd opinion vet advised it was way too soon to determine if surgery was needed as it takes 1-2 months for the stones to begin dissolving or to dissolve completely (not 10 days not 2 weeks). We also learned it is rare for the stones to obstruct a females urinary tract and being that they were not large we did not have to worry (yet).
STONES DISSOLVED AND 2ND X-RAYS WERE CHECKED OVER BY A RADIOLOGIST TO CONFIRM!!!!!!!! NO SURGERY IS NEEDED AND EVERYTHING BELLEROSE TOLD ME WAS COMPLETELY INCORRECT AND MISLEADING.
I AM ALSO DISGUSTED THAT THE QUOTE FOR SURGERY WAS OVER DOUBLE THE COST WE RECEIVED WHEN GETTING QUOTES FROM 2 OTHER VETS.
I really hope this vet office shapes up, I am sure they are aware that PETS mean the world to their owners and I would hate for this to ever happen to anyone else.
