All of the vets here are extremely nice and helpful. This vet office is affiliated with one in West Village (and has great digital medical records for your pet!), so it is convenient for you in multiple locations. My Japanese Chin has gone here since he first came into my life... I am so thrilled to recommend this wonderful veterinary practice! It's pricy, but for your fur baby, the service is more than worth it!

We've been really happy with Battery Park Veterinary Hospital. We feel like Prince is in good hands when we take him there, and Dr. Berk is absolutely a fantastic doctor. Highly recommended!

I started going here back in 2010, switching from LI vet who was awesome, purely for convenience. After the first visit with my dog and annual exam, three weeks later his gallbladder ruptured and died. I gave them the benefit of the doubt as maybe it was unforeseeable, but I think a good vet could have prevented it.

In any event, I got a new dog from the same breeder in 2010. In 2012 I went simply for his second visit for his annual shots. They charge $90 for an annual exam. I decided to split the shots up. When I came back they charged me $60 for a follow-up "visit" saying he got an additional antibiotic shot (frankly that I never wanted in the first place but didn't feel like arguing with the vet) because of skin issues identified in the prior exam. So basically they want $90 per annual exam plus $60 per additional "visit" for 5 minutes of time, so which is the equivalent of in the minimum $720 per hour plus the mark-up on whatever drugs they sell. It sounds like a pretty sweet gig especially compared to all those human doctors who get paid significantly less, have significantly more schooling, significantly more legal liability, and have to deal with the headache of the insurance companies and administrative burden (cf. cash business). In summary, if you don't mind paying more than human prices for your dog for the convenience of getting a few shots every year from them, go on ahead. Otherwise you might feel like you're getting hosed.

I scheduled an appointment with this vet because my dog had an ear infection. I stopped at the local dog run before going to the appointment and asked other dog owners what they thought of this vet,: they ALL had negative things to say, including that they over-charge every small little procedure.

Anyway, I had no choice and went ahead. I thought, all I need is to get the ear medication and that would be it. So the vet did confirm the ear infection and insisted on using a different treatment instead of the drops. The treatment (which is an additional $45 on top of the $85 visit) consists of injecting the medication in the ear where it solidifies and then stays in the ear for 2 weeks. Nothing else to do... "It always works!"

Well, 1 week after the visit, the ear actually got worse and there is still a lot of red/black gunk coming out of it.

I called this morning to ask if I could just come over and pick up the drops (which I know works) but they told me I had to come in for another visit at $85, just to make sure they prescribe me the rite drops, if needed.

So instead I just ordered the drops from Petmeds and will get them tomorrow. I will not go back to this vet and will travel further uptown for my next visit...
