Thank God not all Barnes and Nobles shut down especially this one, the flagship store on 5th Avenue, and hope it will stay open in the future. Bookaholics, working professionals with spare time during lunch break, lost tourists with distracted children, and the homeless with a desire to learn all congregate here to enrich their lives with books. Call it the cleanest library in Manhattan without the benefit to borrow books. It is a wonderful place to kill time productively. On occasion prominent authors, politicians, and other significant figures, Jimmy Carter, Cindy Crawford, and Joel Osteen, to mention some, hold book signings, but the line wraps around the store so make sure you go early and bring a hat! The best part about this store is along the wall next to Starbucks is a undesignated seating area where people can sit and read. Around noon it can get hot though with the sunlight beaming down the windows.
