Bankstreet is a GREAT neighborhood bookstore.This is mostly in response to A Google User three spots below. I've been buying books for my granddaughters here for years. I've never had a bad experience there with the staff. Unfailingly helpful and courteous. Busy, yes. Sometimes understaffed but not often. It's December 23rd, and I'm still heading up that way for last minute shopping for a few extras... No better place to go.

Whenever I need a gift for my kids, I go to the Bankstreet Bookstore. They are moving, but only a few blocks away.

This is your one stop shopping for any kid of book for any child! The incredibly educated staff can help you find the perfect gift from illustrated books, to early readers up to teens! They also have an array of teachers books and educational materials on the 2nd floor. It gets a bit crowed on weekends when families stop in so try to make your first visit on a weekday when its less crowded! THEY ALSO DO FREE GIFT WRAPPING!!

Nice selection of books, but checkout staff very rude. They refuse to greet you. Sorry, I expect at least a "hello" when I'm purchasing lots of expensive items. Yes, this is New York, but come on, it's a children's bookstore. Common courtesy is in order for paying customers. I was in the store today at about 2 p.m. and the cashier had glasses. That woman needs to learn some manners.
