Great hair cuts.

First time I went to Balance, I LOVED my haircut. Best haircut ever. I went back again, but the girl who cut it the first time didnt work there anymore. They couldnt tell me where she went. So, went to another girl. While cutting my hair, she was too busy talking to the other clients and stylists, that while she was using thinning shears on my hair, she made me nearly bald in the back of my head. Mind you, thinning shears are used on those with thick hair. I didnt realize even how bad it was until I went outside in the cold and acutally felt the cold hair on my scalp. I have NEVER felt that before. Called the owner the next day and she made an appt for me to come see her. I really just wanted my $65 back. But she wanted to fix it. So, I showed her the same pic that I showed the first girl- I figured the back of the hair would grow back and I would be ok if I at least got the cut I wanted. OMG- she butchered my hair. And I dont say that lightly. It was the shortest I have ever had my thick wavey hair, up about ear length. Nothing like I wanted. Horrible. And I think she knew it. The worst part is, when she was making the appt for me to go back to have her fix it, she didnt want me to go in when the first girl that butchered my hair, was there bc she "didnt want her to feel bad" This tells me that she doesnt talk to them when they make mistakes, so they keep making them. And will never learn and just keep ruining peoples hair and lives. Its been over a 1 1/2 yrs now, and the back of my scalp has never grown back the same. Go at your own risk!

I used to go to Balance salon (about a year ago) and my husband was going there as recently as today. The place is...quirky, to put it mildly. The problem, however, is really not in its quirkiness but in failure to follow instructions and give the person what they ask for. I used to think that it had its charm and though Carla, the owner, sometimes has the tendency to go on talking about UFO's, aliens, scientology, etc., I always wrote it all off to the same charming artistic quirkiness. Little did I know, there was very little artistry about this place or its owner. Last year in May I came to Carla and asked for side bangs like Zoey Deschanel's. I had a magazine with me, with up close pictures of Zoey’s hair, etc. I asked not to make the bangs too short because they would be too hard for me to manage. Alas, my requests were not heeded - I got the bangs like Christine Aguilera used to have, short, SHORT, and not a side bang at all. Needless to say, I was very upset and never set foot into that place again. However, at the time I refrained from writing a bad review - despite the fact that it took me 6 MONTHS to grow my bangs back to being chin length. I held off because my husband kept going to Carla, he felt she was good with men's haircuts and was close by and convenient. Well, tonight he came back from having a haircut with Carla , with a haircut that was so short, SHORT AS IN ALMOST BALD, you can see his scalp...so short in fact, it looks like he just came out of prison. To clarify, my husband has a beautiful had of hair – thick, no balding in sight. When he went to get his haircut he had a picture on him, of how he wanted his hair to look like - needless to say, it was NOT what he got. To top it all off nicely, the icing on this cake, he was charged $55 for a haircut that he could have gotten for $10 with a buzzer at the nearest barber shop. AVOID this place and save your money - there is artistic quirkiness and there is just plain old weirdness and unprofessionalism.
