Excellent service and good food. Otherwise too cramped and loud with head-banging music. Close your eyes and you have no idea there's anything Mexican about it. Same with the Margaritas - sickening sweet. No balance. Had to get an extra shot of tequila and extra lime juice to correct what we got. They ended up being $21 DIY Margaritas. If you can get the food right, you can at least get the Margaritas right, too!

This is my boyfriend and I's favorite Mexican restaurant in the city. We go at least 3-4 times a month. They have the BEST al pastor tacos in NYC! The chili blackened green beans appetizer is a must and the nachos are also amazing.
The salsa is super fresh and they also serve everything with their homemade mango habanero sauce, which is amazing. You can buy your own bottle to take home too!

I got there about 35 minutes after opening.. This place was recommended to me.. The food was OK: my cornbread came out cold, my enchiladas were good, I had to ask for chips and salsa, and got it when my food came out. The service was not good. There were 3 tables seated and I sat at the bar.. There was one waitress, who seemed to be prepping for the day in the back, running food and waiting tables. There was a guy (maybe the manager or owner) who was stocking the bar and doing some other stuff in the back. The waitress clearly needed some help and the tables needed some additional attention. There service needs help.
Oh, the music was good.
No need to return for me.

We were in New York for only a week but we felt more welcome at this restaurant than all the others we went to. The service could not be faulted. I loved my food. The only reason I didn't give 5 stars is my wife thought the vegetables in the vegetable enchiladas had a hint of a chemically like taste, I thought the same. I'm certain that if we brought it to the attention of the staff we would have been dealt with appropriately. However we had a plane to catch so we didn't. We would definitely eat there again.

I found the shrimp fajitas to be particularly noteworthy.
The bar was friendly and made good vodka cranberry drinks.
The decorations are great, including cool lighting and full wall murals.
