Beware of Gregg (Owner) of this company. I hired him for painting as well as skim coating of some of my walls. Before the contract he said he has 40yrs of painting experience. We agree on after his skim coat the walls will be like glass and painting should come nice.
As per agreement he has to start work with one-third of payment for the supplies and at the middle of the work 50% of payment and rest at the end of the work. I paid him one-third in the begining for the supplies. Just after few days, he requested me for $400 more to pay his bills. I felt generous. Skim coat was coming up so poor that anyone can see the problems except him.
One day he requested me that his mom has to undergo a surgery and she is not covered under insurance. He demanded $600.00 and I felt pity on his mom's condition and paid him. Now I had paid more than 70% of the total contract money when almost 10% of the job was finished.
One day, he did not come and told me his back has severe pain. I suggested him to take rest and well care. He did not come even after a week and kept telling me that he is under medication. I suggested him to send someone else instead so that my work can be re-started. He said he does not have money to pay anyone. After 4weeks of repeated requests, he sent someone with clear instructions that he does not have to do anything on the walls and start painting. Well he made me to buy the paints. The person who came over was a little ethical and said he can not do anything on those walls without sanding them. It was taking him longer than expected he threw him out of job after he was half way done with a reason that he can expect him to do there for long.
Moreover, I insisted me to pay cash and when I said I do not keep cash, he made me write "Cash" on the checks.
The person who came to paint in his place told me that Gregg was not having any pain and he is working at different customer.
I do not know how to handle this situation but to keep others warned I am writing it.
