This is one of the best places to stay. Glad I made the choice. After striking out at a bunch of places looking for a clean, upscale building, finally settled here.

Pros: Staff is incredible, building amenities are good too.Pool should be cleaned more frequently, but looks great at night with the mood lighting. Underground parking, and 48 step walk away from the train station! Free coffee every morning is great.

Cons: Some apartments and hallway carpets are getting old and are need of replacement. Apartments aren't exactly energy efficient. AC units and Water heaters should be replaced with energy efficient ones. Washer and dryer are really cheap for this scale of a building.

Other thoughts: Stay on the 4th floor, its super quiet. Pets are allowed, so be ready for the occasional pet "accident" in the hallway. I must say this again, the staff is bar-none, never seen a more helpful staff.

- Poor #23642
I’ve have lived at the Ave Union for 1 year. The building not only operates as long-term housing but also as short-term furnished housing. I have to say, during the winter months, it is quite pleasant to live here. It’s next door to the train station for great access to surrounding cities, and the grounds are always kept well manicured. The front desk reception is friendly and the amenities such as the gym, business center, and movie room are great to have. During the summer many travelers are drawn to the building in need of short-term accommodation. This proves to be a great time to meet new people… however during this very busy time the quality of living is diminished. Due to the buildings construction, you can hear your neighbors every movement. There happens to be a short-term furnished apartment one floor above my long-term (3k/month) unfurnished unit. There is really no telling who will be living above me at any given time or how loud they may or may not be. At the moment there sounds to be 5 people staying in the two-bedroom apartment above me, which came along with loud stomping, chairs dragging, doors slamming, things bouncing off the ground, children running from one room to the next... these are all things people should be able to do in their home without worrying about disturbing their neighbors. However, the poor insulation in this building makes it almost impossible for me have a full nights rest, or even work from home during the day. I am awakened at 2am, 4am, or 6am various times throughout the week. It’s gotten to the level where my doctor has suggested that I rent a hotel room to get some rest as I am currently very exhausted and expecting my first child. I’ve contacted management numerous times regarding this current issue, and nothing has changed. I’m wondering if it would be more sensible to put larger short-term groups of people on the first floor…but sadly, I’m getting the feeling that nothing will be done about this.

I will agree that some noise transfers through the walls but we are talking about someone dropping 100lbs coming through as a muted "thud". Adjacent to the NJ Transit station (Raritan Valley Line) and I have yet to hear a train from my apartment in the 9 months here. Fantastic amenities, safe environment, great staff only downside is an archaic internet speed.

You are stuck using the complexes internet (you pay a third party for install/support) and the speeds are 5mbps down and only 1 up ...which is not considered high speed. Outside of that AVE is a fantastic location with great people.
