BEWARE!! BUNCH OF CROOKS! DO NOT USE AUTHORIZED HEATING 5014 16th ave brooklyn, ny 11204
back story, i work maintenance in a large building that has two decent sized AO smith water heaters for domestic hot water. these units are around 2 years old. one boiler had an error for no flow and would not run. called AO smith to have an authorized repair shop come take a look at it. the closest "start up shop that knows these boilers inside and out" was authorized heating in brooklyn ny, we are just over the border in NJ. when the "service tech" arrived to look at our problem, he showed up with basically NO tools and i didnt see him bring a multimeter to troubleshoot what seemingly could be an electrical issue. the tech looked on the display for the code, may have verified the pump wasnt running (not by any other means than feeling it to see if it was running/no diag). not to mention when the tech tried to close a ball valve he mangled the shaft when using a pipe wrench when it was hard to close, and damaging it in the process. his final diagnosis was that we needed to replace the pump at the cost of $3500.00 (the pump cost us $1200.00 and took us 10 minutes to replace as we have on site plumber and mechanics). To our surprise, THE PUMP DID NOT FIX THE ISSUE! the same problem existed. It took me 5 minutes of looking inside the heater door to see that a circuit board had been damaged and burned. We replaced the board and relay ourselves and the boiler is fixed. The total repair cost us $200-300. We now have anew pump and one for a spare, and a person who has never seen an AO smith boiler in his life fixed the issue when the experts could not (really they just wanted to gouge us for the $500 service call and $3500 for a pump that wasnt needed).
when we called the owner MARK to bring this issue to his attention, he started making excuses and getting loud on the phone with myself. One positive is that he did refund the service fee, like im sure he has had to do in the past with other customers.
