Its nice but FYI you need a membership through the city that you can't buy onsite you have to buy it at specific locations from the parks nyc website.

Best Manhattan view ever. Hamilton park is pretty good but Astoria park is really good for sunset. You can see the change in the reflection of the city light on the river and Empire state building changes its color everyday, that makes this place so special as you will never have the same view.
Everyday you have new view.

By public city court standards, these are very well maintained never crowded and open year round. You'll need a city pass to play during the spring to fall months, but no one will bother you without one during the cold months. Don't try to sneak in without one though, the guy who runs the classes there treats the courts like his personal fiefdom and he will kick you out if you don't have a valid pass.
Despite what this listing says, the courts are not a skate park. There is a skate park in Astoria park, but it is on the other side of the parking lot from the courts, closer to the river and has nothing to do with the tennis courts.

The scenery is great! But beware the bugs! They like to bite: hard. I have been there a LOT of times, and I still can't get used to how much action there is: even at 2 in the morning! There's lots of things to try out there, and sometimes, they hold the greatest events there. There's always a summer carnival that lasts a week, and the food was great.

This place is really very good to us in the spring and summer. Great views of Manhattan and a public pool and playground. The great lawn is where everyone gets their sun. It could be a bit cleaner but given the number of people that use it it's not terrible. They should throw more money at this place.
