Archimedes Academy for Math, Science and Technology Applications

I love this school my son attended from sixth grade all the way to 12th grade and he just recent graduate from that school. I give thanks to the teachers,principal, guidance consular's for all the efforts they put in my son. Me and husband are very thankful to all of you.

This school is dominated by Caucasian teachers (97%), the students rights are being taken away. Students are being bully and threatened into submission by a group of teachers. They just suspended a group of students because one parent decided to confront a male staff. This particular staff is a wolf in a sheep clothing. He reduces a female teacher to tears and they cover it up. On top of all this they have the nerves to tell me they created a MONSTER (my child). Well the monster mother will be taking all this a little further since the captain of the ship has disserted the helm of the school. You all come down on my child and making her feel like she is crap today and that her feelings doesn't count after she told you all she felt threatened by the male staff. Current parents question your child and you will be surprise of the things they see and hear. Why is there only a handful of black teachers in a school that is predominantly black???. Is it because this school served low-income families????? Is it because these young Caucasians teachers will be getting $17,500.00 of their federal student loan forgiven? Just saying his now!!!!

I am now a graduate of Archimedes Academy (fist graduating class) by the way . I would have to say my experience in Archimedes for 5 year has been an amazing journey. People may say Archimedes is a bad school but I do not feel you can comment on the school if you have not attended the school yourself. This school has problem's like any other school, but if you went to this school from the beginning when it all started you will see that there has been major growth.From starting with no sports at all to winning chairmanships in sports.This school is so family orientated and that one thing I loved the most. The teachers care about the students on a whole other level in term of hard work , advise in life and in the way you carry yourself as a young adult. I feel that if your child does not apply themselves then there the ones losing out on the great experience this school has to offer. The one problem that I would have to say is that the school needs to gain more organization skills.This school is just stating up so I guess they needed some time to get the hang of things. Other then that I love this school so much and the people there will always be family. I have learned a lot form my days here, that I feel will help me in my life goals.For those with the negative comments why did you allow your child to stay in the so called "worst school in New York"? and also what school do you know that has all good kids ?

I'm a hs student expecting to graduate in 2014. HS is more at ease and is doing good. I'm speaking mostly for Juniors though , we are becoming stronger and our teachers care . They aren't easy and they aren't difficult.
