If you have never treated yourself to a Hot Towel Shave then you may be in a blissful state of ignorance like I was. Those of you have been lucky enough to have experienced this at the gifted hands of Antonella know she must be the best! The owner/operator, Antonella is a lovely woman. I started with a hair wash and rinse by Lita, another great lady. While lying back in the chair I noticed the nicely painted white, blue and gold ceiling. I was very pleased with my cut and my wife and son approved! The shave was incredible. Multiple hot towels, pre-shave skin conditioning, after shave serum, more hot and cold towels and constant checking to make sure she wasn't missing any stray whiskers. Antonella's attention to detail and her professionalism are impeccable! I will go back every time I am in New York!

My haircut is easy. Just a #3 clipper on the sides, top as short as you can get with scissors. Really hard to screw up. So I don't mind going to new barbers, and when my regular was closed unexpectedly this seemed like a geographically conveinent substitute. I was wrong.
First he goes into a tirade about how "3" isn't the same everywhere and some other customers complain and do I really mean 3. A #3 clipper is 3/8 of an inch. It's an industry standard. It's the same everywhere. So right off the bat he doesn't know what he's talking about and I'm worried.
Then the guy seems to think the sides end somewhere mid ear, height wise. He basically only uses the clippers on my sideburns and then acts confused when I try to explain what any other barber would have done with the same instructions. The whole time he's jabbing my head with the clippers and comb, like he's trying to knock the hair off by brute force. Manages to miss almost all the hair with the scissors, frantically snipping the tiniest bits of hair while making weird grunts. Takes almost nothing off despite the words "as short as you can get."
At the end he goes in close with the scissors ungaurded for what was probably an attempt to thin, but ends up catching wide clumps. Patchy, uneven, and looks less well kept than before the cut. Told him to stop when I realized he was doign more harm then good. Worst haircut I've ever had in New York, and twice as expensive as I usually pay for a simple men's cut. $38. I'm probably going to just get it buzzed in a couple days if I can't find a decent way to comb it.
Never again.

I have been going here for ten years. I love Antonella...and i love this place so much...I only go here. It is a throwback to a different time. The place is old school...has no pretense and has reasonable prices. Antonella is hilarious and always there...I feel like i am going to my aunts house or something to get my hair cut. A classic.

I am a long time client of Antonella's - have been going there for years and am always treated well. It has always been a great experience... I get a scalp massage with my haircut and a hot towel wrap with my shave.... there's nothing better then that. Their prices are fair based on the service ( and are posted in the window ). If you want great service and a great experience, you go to the best. In my book Anontella's is the best.

I've been there about 4 times. While the place has a nice barbershop feel, its not consistent, making you fear how much you might get charged today. Instead of posting prices, they base the price of your haircut on what you're wearing and how much they think you can afford. So make sure you were some poor looking clothes. I went there today, must have looked really sharp, because they charged me 30 for the haircut, 15 for a 2 minute trim of my beard, and 2 for using a credit card. I couldn't believe a 47 dollar bill at a barbershop? Much better of going to jean louis david, down the street on chambers, paying a consistent 26 dollars, and have maria cut your hair just as well in half the time.
