I go in for crickets once a week. Always very friendly, fast and they always have what I need. I'm usually in and out in seconds. I'd recommend to anybody.

Don't bother!
When I was a kid living in Staten Island, my father and I would get our fish here. The people that owned the store 20 years ago are long gone as is the selection and knowledge of the animals.
At first sight I thought that the selection was fair. I got a few damsels that died within a day leaving my reef with problems. Amateurs know more than these people. I'll travel into Long Island or New Jersey rather than ever waste my money or time here.

Absolutely the best pet store on Staten Island. It is not even close. No matter when you go in, there is always 3 or 4 guys working there. They have a large selection of animals at very competitive prices, and will special order anything you want within a week. I get my special order frozen rats from them 65% cheaper then Petco and Petsmart. The employees there have all owned a wide variety of animals and reptiles and are very helpful and knowledgeable about various questions or problems that might arise with husbandry. I have been going here 14 years. I have tried every store on Staten Island, and 2 years ago I moved to the other side of the island. Still, once a week, I drive past all of the other stores to get to this one. It is worth it.

Horrible horrible store. Went there once to buy plant nutrients. They didn't have physical tablets or pellets so they sold me a bottle of Kent Pro-Plant. I came home and used it for a few days, and to my horror, plants started dying faster than ever. I couldn't understand why, until I realized that the bottle expired six months ago. I went back demanding a refund, and they gave it to me, but what shocked me was when I came back nearly a month later and saw the same bottle on display again. It's probably still there - just ask to see the plan nutrients and check the expiration date.
That second time I went back, I also got a beautiful $25 pleco. This was an enormous fish and I fell in love with it almost immediately. I came home and acclimated him properly, and he seemed to live very happily for a few weeks. I noticed, however, that he had tiny white spots on him. I suspected ick, but did not act. Still not sure why I didn't do anything. I guess I thought that it wasn't a big deal and would go away itself. Well the fish died in a couple of weeks. Moral of the story, when you suspect a sick fish, treat it immediately. Shame on this vendor for selling one, though.
