Animal Hospital and Laser Surgery Center of New Jersey

I took my dog here, who my boyfriend and I had rescued from the local shelter, because this is where the shelter had taken her. I only took her in for a check up, as we had only had her for a little over a month and had no idea when her last vet visit had been. Upon arrival the waiting room (which has no where to "wait" as there are no seats) smells awful, as if the entire office has never been cleaned before. After standing for 15 minutes (with a very anxious and stressed out dog) we were put into an exam room which smelled even worse than the waiting room. When Dr. Young finally came in to exam my Layla, I explained that she hadn't let me clean her ears out so she probably needed a good ear cleaning. She looked in one ear with her naked eye (no scope) and said "she's fine for a good while, she doesn't need it". Layla is a Shar Pei mix, with ears that stay "shut" most of the time, clean ears are essential to her over all health. She gave Layla a courtesy nail trim and said that she had some infected ingrown hairs between her toes (which she did upon my examination) and prescribed her some antibiotics. The worst came a few days later. While away on a business trip with my boyfriend, my mother in-law (who was dogsitting) called and informed that Layla had been in the yard and cut her front upper leg. I wasn't too concerned after being told that she wasn't limping and didn't seem to be in pain but advised my mother in-law to take her to the vet just to be safe. Upon arrival (which was at noon, my mother in-law had to wait to take her in) she was informed that Layla would have to knocked out, and stitched, having to stay there a few hours. $400.00 and 2 days later we came home and I saw an unbandaged wound with all of 4 stitches in it. Even following the aftercare instruction, the stitches popped open after only 4 days in. Being as it was a Sunday and late at night, we decided to take her to the ER Vet in Lyndhurst where we were informed that the wound was infected, it could've used at least 2 more stitches and that her ears were in serious need of being cleaned. Suffice it to say that I will never be returning to this vet again!!! She over charges and under cares for your pets. The simple fact that a cut that should've only taken a week to heal will now take twice as long with my Layla in an uncomfortable cone in enough to turn me off to ever going back there. If you are considering this Vet, I strongly urge you to keep looking, as all you'll end up doing here is over paying for your beloved pet to slowly suffer longer than necessary.

I thought Kimberlee Young is very rude and arrogant. Decided to change veterinarian because I wanted a vet I am comfortable with and has a more positive attitude so when asked to give me my pets medical records she literally made me wait an hour to get them because she was "busy", when it wasnt.. and when she finally decided to get them it only took her 2 mins to print out only 3 pages. This made me realize how relived I am too never come back now. I prefer going somewhere where there is a better positive atmosphere.

* and I been asking for these records for 2 days to be faxed and never was and they never answer their phones.
