- Very Good #11260
Yes, it was expensive. But we felt like our cat had top notch care while at AER. Dr. Strauss was very quick to return our calls and was very available to us. Dr. Strauss also saved us money by checking for alternative causes of our cat's issue before performing an expensive treatment (that it turns out would not have solved the problem). They (both Dr. Strauss and all of the staff) were also incredibly considerate when we had to euthanize the cat due to aggressive cancer. I hope not to have to go back to AER but if I do, I know my animals will have the highest quality care.

NOT EVEN ONE STAR

NEVER AGAIN!

We were given the completely wrong information about our Chihuahua. He was hit on the head and had a LARGE bump and was so swollen. He then went through seizures that night which is why we went here. We were told over and over and over a TRAUMA could NOT cause seizures.

We were then told we should go to a neurological center since theirs was on vacation.

We considered placing our Chihuahua on anti seizure medication right away, or putting him down since the trauma repeatedly asked and then received the response with - ABSOLUTELY NOT.

Our Chihuahua is older and has a small heart problem as well, never once had a seizure before this incident. We just wanted our poor thing out of pain. We were told that SHE WOULD NOT FROWN UPON US PUTTING HIM DOWN.

My mother and I were there for countless hours trying to figure out what was best for our baby. The poor thing did not have any seizures while there, but had at least 6 or so before we arrived. We truly were considering putting him down just because he looked like he was in so much pain.

I asked if we could have an emergency shot to stop a seizure if we took him home. We got one (THANK GOD) and left hours and hours later. Next morning my mom took him to the local vet. He looked right at him and said the poor thing is so swollen and in pain. And our vet said the seizures most definitely were from the bump on the head. Our vet then gave us the right medication and he is doing a million times better.

I then wanted to talk to the staff about what happened. My mom and I both called and sent e-mails back in December and we were told that the head honcho was going to talk to the girl who helped us and get right back to me ASAP... still nothing. UNPROFESSIONAL!

I took my dog here on a Sunday for emergency services. God how I wish I had taken him to Paramus instead. He died within three hours and these people think that charging $1600 is perfectly ok. The original overnight estimated bill was $1370. I was told the bill would be adjusted to $527 since he was only there for 2 1/2 hours, instead, $527 was added to my bill. I'm so furious. I called trying to get the issue resolved, I spoke to the doctor that initially saw my dog and was told that it didn't matter what the front desk person said. What?! So basically, I was bs'd so I would leave without arguing. Wow. Just wow.

This place is evil. Seriously. I felt it as soon as I arrived, before I even got out of the car. Avoid this place at almost any cost. They are ruthless, full of BS and only care about $$ $$ $$. They would let your pet die while they happily run one expensive test after expensive test after expensive test. At least that was my $1,200 experience. My dog didn't have to die. And they were shockingly dishonest and disgusting about a bunch of things still stuck in my nightmares. Other pet owners may have had a more positive experience there, but I'm vastly understating the devastating horror they put me though.. I would sue them if I could afford the necessary expensive lawyer, but, due to lack of remaining evidence and the small print I signed upon arrival in distress, it would be virtually impossible for me to win damages, let alone put them out of business. I'm not one to pray a lot, but I pray no pet-loving person goes through what I did there. I hope they rot for eternity, and, if there's really such a thing, I'm certain they will.
