We found Dr. Borchelt through a referral from a family friend. At the time my wife and I had been having difficulty with our large Bernese Mountain Dog being a little too aggressive towards strangers (men only) who entered the house while my wife was home. Dr. Borchelt came out to our house on Long Island and spent some time getting to know us and our situation and of course our big pup.
Dr. Borchelt assured us it was an easy fix as our dog, Harry, was generally a great, well behaved pup. He explained that Harry just needed to learn the difference between people who are invited to come into our home and those that are not. This made perfect sense to us but we were very curious as to how we could quickly accomplish this. Dr. Borchelt introduced a gentle lead to harry and custom fit it for him so as to be comfortable. With the gentle lead on attached to a small leash we then began simple exercises with harry to learn the correct behavior when someone enters the home after knocking or ringing the bell. After about a month of asking random friends to come knock on our door, Harry is the most polite greeter you'd ever meet. We had a large party at our house recently with many people coming in and out and Harry passed with flying colors.
Dr. Borchelt remained in touch throughout the process and was always available when we had questions.
I HIGLY recommend Dr. Borchelt to anyone having a behavior problem with their dog.
