Ami Hair Braiding

I got my hair braided last month and my braids are still looking great. Usually I would have lost a braid or 5 but the young lady did a great job. I will go back.

Do not go here! These girls do not care about your comfort. 1. They didn't know I could speak French so the entire time I was there they were complaining about my hair and cracking jokes about it (and my father whom they saw when he dropped me off) in French with each other and some of the other customers. 2. I'm transitioning so it's been over 6 months since my last relaxer. I have a lot of new growth and did my best to condition it and comb out most of the tangles before I went in. This girl sat me down and handed me a comb to go through my own hair before she touched it. Before I had even finished the front she snatched it back from me and proceeded to RIP through my hair from root to tip ROOT TO TIP first with a wide tooth and then with a FINE TOOTH COMB!! I know how to deal with discomfort when it comes to getting my hair done, BUT THIS WAS RIDICULOUS! 3. I didn't realize until I was nearly done that the lady had been braiding the hair near my scalp and then twisting the rest of it. This was only my second time getting twists put in and I didn't realize twists could be done this way. This defeated the whole point to my decision of getting twists and not braids. Twists are easier to manipulate into different hairstyles and they put less stress on my scalp. 4. The hair eventually came down about 4 inches past my shoulders. When she finished I asked her to please put it up into a bun. Instead she put it into a ponytail, going on about how the hair is too short for that and how I should've gotten it longer. I had to do it myself when I got home. I should've know better when they first tried to make the hair down to the middle of my back and then gave me judgmental looks when I showed them how much shorter I wanted it. WILL NOT BE RETURNING!!

I brought my 14yr old daughter here because she wanted to try braids for the first time. I read several reviews from other places and they scared me to death. Ami's place was different. The women were personable but focused on braiding. They never took a break. My daughter was out in 5hrs and she said her scalp felt great. Although the floors could use a good sweeping the place is air conditioned with a lavatory for the customers use.
