Great organization. To one of the poor reviews: yes, having prayers held in Public schools is unconstitutional (separation of church and state clause of the first amendment).
Overall, they do a lot of incredible work.

The ACLU has a long tradition of standing up for the rights of American citizens. Their actions may not always be popular, but they have always helped give voices to those who needed to be heard.

My first experience with a difficult inquiry to this organization regarding pervasive GPS surveillance, which would have motivated the least ambitious civil rights advocate, was simply brushed off as some paranoid "feeling". I was shocked and found this disconcerting particularly in light of current events of court cases and NSA leaks. In my opinion, they appear to have their own agenda in mind. Why bother donate to this organization. You'd be better off paying a Park Avenue attorney.

The A.C.L.U. failed to file suit against the Department of Health Services for the unlawful termination of a ACA call center agent named Erline.
Yesterday, talk show host Sean Hannity called a center in Florida and asked reasonable questions about the agent's experiences at call center. Erline answered his questions thoroughly and politely. Subsequently, she was terminated with the comment - "We can't have that sort of thing around here." This (black) lady performed her job as directed and described by President Obama, for which she lost her job. If the A.C.L.U. won't protect Erline, who will they protect?

This organization defends all the wrong people. They go after the very things this country was founded on like religious freedom.Every state's constitution mentions God.Saying a prayer in school is not forming a religion. The ACLU needs to go back and read our constitution again.
We need to stop funding their operations with tax dollars.
