When my now-husband and I first met Alice Soloway, we immediately felt comfortable to share our story with her, and confident that she was very organized in her approach. Alice will first meet with you and your future spouse in person for to have an informal, casual conversation about yourselves. She won’t, however, make you feel like you are being put on the spot and interviewed. This detail was very important to me! Next, if you choose to work with her, you will take the time, (in our case, a lot of time) to write thoughtful and honest answers to an extensive questionnaire, about yourself, your love story, your hopes and dreams, and what marriage means to you. Alice then artfully takes sections from each of your responses and weaves them together perfectly to craft a ceremony that reflects your relationship with each other, and each partner as individuals. We chose to honor our parents and grandparents, and to incorporate two readings during the ceremony... Your ceremony will be as unique as each of you, and your relationship. Immediately following the ceremony, we began to hear all of the positive feedback about how, “unique, warm, personal, INSPIRING, beautiful, touching,” our ceremony was. Guests have even sent us emails detailing how “honest” our ceremony was, and how they appreciated the focus on “us,” instead of a religious entity. On every level, we feel like we hit the jackpot with Alice. We got married in New Orleans in November and received numerous calls, emails, texts, cards, etc. telling us how warm, personable and unique our wedding ceremony was. Many people have told us our ceremony was the most wonderful ceremony they had ever witnessed. Why? Because of Alice and all the care, love and time she put into getting to know us as a couple and as individuals. Our backgrounds are pretty different: I was raised in a Christian family in the Midwest and my husband is Jewish and from the east coast. What we wanted was a warm, soulful and very personal ceremony that reflected our relationship and our values, honored our parents, was a little funny and was not too serious, and made our friends and families feel like they were part of the ceremony. When we read Alice’s first draft of the ceremony, we both shed some tears. Alice perfectly wove in our love story with the traditional ceremony elements, a couple readings and the few religious rituals we wanted to include. We are both writers and went through numerous drafts of the ceremony until we got exactly what we want. Throughout the process, Alice provided wonderful insight and guidance and was extremely patient. The end result was a beautiful, moving and highly personal ceremony that truly reflected us as a couple but still honored our parents and our different backgrounds. We really felt like we were being married by a family member or close friend. We spoke to several officiants before meeting Alice and after meeting her the first time, we knew she was the one for us. Alice is smart, cool, hip, interesting, creative, totally authentic and really loving. She is also completely organized and extremely responsive. She took care of everything and made us feel so at ease on our wedding day. She just gets it. We love Alice and feel like we made a lifelong friend. We could not recommend Alice more highly!
