Alex's Italian Restaurant & Brick Oven Pizza

The best pizza I've ever had in my life. My boyfriend and I have ordered delivery twice and just had our first dine in experience. Shirin and Alex are lovely people who make you feel like family the moment you step into their restaurant. Wonderful, fresh ingredients, amazing tiramisu and chocolate cake. Our new favorite restaurant.

OK pizza, if you like your order delivered cold after waiting over 2 hours. There's few places that can warrant that, and this isn't one of them given the multitude of better service. Save yourself the trouble

Everything's terrible even with groupon deal!
Never want to go again!!!

My first dining experience at Alex gave me a taste of the line "don't judge a book by its cover" ...when it comes to Alex, you can't judge the food by the appearance of the restaurant. I was led to the restaurant by its groupon. Don't be fooled by its description of being on "the waterfront", it may be in the area but it isn't the closest to the actual waterfront if your a scenery person. Second, if you mention groupon before ordering be sure to know that your portions of food will be reduced by a quarter. The Grilled shrimp dish however is excellent, it comes in a garlic sauce with rice and spinach...this dish is what brought me back.

Upon returning, I brought another groupon. It was the one for $39 for $80 worth of food , since their food is rather pricey. I didn't pay much attention to the amount of people who must be present to redeem the groupon, but for this particular one it was 4. I was 2 people short. My sister and I decided to go. We had the scallops for our appetizer. It came with spinach and tomatoes. They seemed to be a little undercooked. For our entrees we both had the grilled shrimp again & it was awesome. For dessert we shared a chocolate slice of cake. Everything equaled $70 roughly. I had $10 remaining to spend from the groupon. When it was time to pay Alex took a look at the groupon and told us his computer couldn't accept it because it was only two of us. He then redeemed the groupon himself and argued to us that we had used it already. When he saw that he could not pull a fast one on us, he said it was ok and told us we were lucky that he accepted it. The usually sweet owner showed me a dishonest side of him, a side that has made me not wanna visit his establishment again.

Great and wholesome experience. Family oriented, I highly recomend. Our sevice was beyond excellent. The staff treated us like family, definitely a great place to go eat in new jersey.
