Dear Achievement First Team. I am extremely upset. I am a veteran parent of the AFENY community. Tonight was Back to School Night at my son's school. He is a third grader in The University of Wisconsin. We were told that attendance is mandatory. Without any family member able to go, I raced from a heavy and busy Oncology clinic-- where I am a Senior Nurse. I left flustered colleagues and put my job on the line to get here. The doors opened at 5:15 pm, meeting started at 5:30pm and the doors closed promptly at 5:45pm. Needless to say after a molasses like hour and 10 minute ride on the 4 to 3 trains from Memorial Hospital where I work, I arrived to the school at 5:48 pm and was turned away. I stood with at least 20 others who also were turned away, we missed the cut off. We are working parents, single parents, have sitters to relieve jobs to do. Turning us away is horrible. Something needs to be done! Mrs. Sullivan and company have no empathy for the average parent! The timing is inconsiderate and so are the hard rules! They beg for parent involvement, then turn us away. I am putting them on blast!!! It is time for a change! A totally pissed off mom! Sincerely, Tara Sigidi @achievementfirst

Bear in mind I am a 8 year veteran AFENY parent. I always felt great pride in both East New York Elementary and Middle School. Today, I was utterly disgusted by the dismissal of parents who were late by minutes to a mandatory meeting. I want this looked into! Parents matter too! Mrs. Sullivan, unlike her predecessor Mr. Reid (Mrs.Cymrot was in for a brief stint) demonstrates very little compassion or relatability. It is she who crafted such rules. They are in complete disregard for the working parent.

Please look into this.
