Academy House Child Development Center

I had the greatest experience here :) The staff is very professional and it is clear that they had exceptional training! The school had a visit at my previous place of employment (LSC) and those kids were so respectful and full of energy! The staff at LSC are always pleased when we hear that Academy House is coming to visit! Overall 10 star experience!

My experience at Academy House has been great! When my son first started there at the age of 3 he was not really talking and took his time pottie training. Now he's expressing his self very well and is completely out of pampers.

I was first drawn to the school because I noticed how the children behaved and how great the teachers interacted with them in a public park. They were organized,respectful and all the kids had on these awesome T-shirts that they had created themselves. Going to the park and seeing how teachers interacted with students; seeing how students responded and interacted with each other was how I ruled out what schools I wanted my son to attend or not. I was really impressed by what I saw and a conversation that I had with one particular teach ( sorry I can't recall her name at this time) and as a result; I inquired about the school. My son has the best teachers! Ms. Katlin and Ms. Melissa are awesome!!!

As a first time parent whose son had never attended day care before starting school; It was important for me to find the best place for my son. Diversity, fun learning, love and patience were some of the things I was looking for and found in this school. There is no school that is 100% perfect but Academy House has indeed exceeded my expectations. I would recommend this school to anyone.

One of the horrible institutions regarding communication and transparency is concerned. I wanted to enroll my kid into PreK3 program and was told to fill a form which goes through a lottery selection. When we call back to know the status, we were told to call back after another week as the lottery was not done. We did call back again and was never able to get the correct information. The woman responsible for the admissions gives different information to me and my wife. Once she says, the seats are filled-up and the next time she says lottery is still pending (with 40 odd seats to be filled) and ask us to call back after 6pm (at that time she is surely not available)... another time she said that there are no lotteries pending. Lot of times she is not there to pick the call. Other personal just says that they don't know anything about admissions. Their attitude is something like they are giving free education to our kids. But it is Jersey City which is paying for this program and these guys are not doing any charity.

My son currently attends this school. Although they complain alot about his behavior (he is very hyper and playful) I appreciate the patience they try to have with him. I don't believe half the reports I receive about him constantly fighting because he's not a fighter yet, he does have tantrums and his favorite word is no. Teachers are good with him. The only bad thing is they changed teachers 5 months into the school year and this kid doesn't do well with too much change. This is his 1st and last school year there.

This day care is great! I was referred to it by a neighbor. We were not happy with a local day care in JC Heights, but after a week of full time care at Academy House, my daughter was won over! They have a live camera system I can log on to and see my how my daughter is doing throughout the day (which I absolutely love!) Overall, the staff are so helpful and friendly, I can go to work and be at ease that my little one is in good hands. I give it a 5 star rating!
