Aarius Studios

Old Bridge, NJ May 2, 2014 – Across the music industry, rehearsal and recording studios are unfortunately becoming known more for closing than what they are turning out. Aarius Studios was no different and has officially closed as of April 30, 2014 after 8 years of being part of New Jersey’s local music scene. In a nutshell, we experienced very little business in the months following Hurricane Sandy at the end of 2012 into 2013. No sooner did we start to see an increase in business for Aarius Studios, we were again hit hard by Mother Nature’s winter of 2013 into 2014 with excessive snow storms that led to studio/session cancellations. This in addition to both economic and cultural impacts gave us no other alternative.

I recorded my first EP here with my old band and it was not an experience we enjoyed. At first we were impressed with the quality of the rooms and thought it would end up a good experience, but we were mistaken. Our engineer decided he knew our music better than we did and made every effort possible to undermine our music and playing ability. He would stop our recording and make an instrument record over again and again, if he personally felt it wasn't up to his 'standard'. Not only that he would bad-mouth one of our members to us whenever they were privately recording in the other room.
We had to record our EP in two sessions, with a week spanning between them. The engineer decided to fly to the other side of the country during the day before our session without warning ad never returned to finish the album; Therefore we had to finish it up with a differet engineer, this time the owner himself. He was more professional than the previous engineer, but still offered little help. He also had his mind made up on how our album should sound and produced the songs according to his taste. They are insanely overpriced and seem to do everything in their power to prolong the recording process. They were paid by the hour and in just 2 separate days of recording we spent almost a few thousand.

While the rooms and equipment were decent, the place was run by fascist nazis who would not allow you to touch any of the equipment you were there to play and would run in to scold you if you were caught on cctv.
