AAMCO Transmissions & Total Car Care

I usually do not review but this experience with AAMCO was not good and others should not go through it.

Dealt with Mike the owner. He's not very professional, rather he came off as an arrogant owner.

Firstly, I asked him if I could get a little discount from the near $3,000 total he was charging me for a used transmission for my Mitsubishi. His comment was along the lines of "we aren't some dealer in a back alley if that's what you're looking for" it was only a valid and simple question to my understanding as that's part of business and usually businesses do give a little discount for a reasonable purchase amount.

I tried to back away from getting my car fixed there and he wanted to charge me about $100 for the "check-up" he did.

Long story short, I ended up having my car fixed there because it wouldn't run and I needed it for work. They were done and my car resulted with a noise underneath that they could not figure out. Instead of bearing with their incompetence I decided to take my car somewhere else to get it fixed just to learn that my car did not need a new transmission but only some transmission oil and some transmission oil cooler from what I described to the new mechanic. So much for trying to get quality and professional service for my car.

Also, I spoke to Mike over the phone about the need to have my car fixed as soon as possible for work. That day my mother drove me there, another coment from Mike was "oh, so you brought your mother in?" what a comment... when my mother was just standing there waiting for me.

Would not recommend anyone to go there as they like to charge way too much for work not even needed, un-professional, take long to return your car (lucky those who don't find a new car problem).

This Bloomfield franchise has lost my trust and AAMCO in general has lost credibility.

I wonder if those praising the business were paid or incentivized?

At first we were was disappointed that my finances brakes couldn't be fixed after they replaced all brakes/rotors, but the owner Mike and said he would take care of it for us. In all the years of auto service I've never had anyone did what Mike did. Thank you, my fiancé is very happy

The Aamco in Bloomfield, NJ gave me excellent service. My 03 chevy tahoe had a bad trans and the rebuilt it it drive better than new. Mike and Josh were very informative always followed up on very thing that was going on. I would recommend this facility to anyone that needs work on their vehicle.

The Customer Service at AAMCO on Bloomfield Ave was exceptional.
I was very upset about my check engine light coming on and Mike and his team were awesome .
They fixed my car and it was ready within a few hours and it rides so smooth now.
I called 4 times throughout the day to check on my car, spoke to 4 different people and EVERY SINGLE TEAM MEMBER WHO ANSWERED WAS SO KIND.
It was almost unbelievable.
They kept me posted every step of the way

I thought I needed a new transmission, so I sought out the folks at AAMCO in Bloomfield. From the start, the staff was attentive and informative and that didn't change throughout the length of the process. Mike and Amir were very helpful and communicative about any progress they were making or findings they came across regarding my car. Turns out that I didn't need to replace or rebuild the trans and the repair was much simpler and less costly than effective. They were very straightforward about the repair and communicated their intentions clearly.

Sure there were a couple of bumps in the road with timing and parts and such, but that's to be expected in any repair situation. I would highly recommend repairs at AAMCO in Bloomfield. They did a great job and had GREAT customer service.
