I had a leak after the hurricane. I have a fairly new roof, less than 10 years old with 40 year shingles on it. When I looked at it, everything looked good. All the shingles were in good condition. So I decided to have a few people come take a look and give me quotes.
First guy never showed up. Second guy didn't even look at the roof but once I said it was on the front of the house, he wanted to replace the entire roof. Alling was the 3rd.
He said he'd be there at 11:00 to take a look and at 11:00 he was there. I had water coming in through my air conditioning duct so he came in and looked around the duct to try and identify where it was coming from. Then he went up and looked at each shingle, the siding and flashing all around it to identify exactly where it could be coming from. By actually looking at it, it didn't look like it was coming from the roof. He quoted me on sealing up a few points on the siding and some nails, which was much more reasonable than replacing the entire roof.
This is a one man show. He runs his own business and it's just him so you get what you see. I don't know for sure that my leak is fixed right now but at least I know that he's actually trying to fix the issue and I'm not just a bank for him to get money.
