92nd Street Y

Really enjoyed my stay here! If you are into board games, checkout the residence office for some great choices.

Wonderful place to attend events and take classes.

That said, I have never come across more bureaucratic, unreasonable security guards in my life, and that has completely annihilated every positive thing I have to say about this place. After living here for almost 8 months, I am completely fed up with the constantly changing security policies and power tripping guards. I would rather have to go through the TSA every time I entered and left the building than deal with these guys.

The 92Y Residence is a fantastic place to live as a student in Manhattan. Since living here (I arrived in August), I have felt extremely safe due to 24/7 security. There are security guards who man the desk at all time and guards who walk around the floors at night. If I have had any issues such as someone being nosy, they have been very supportive in resolving the issue.

The location is also fantastic as it is only a 5 minute walk to Central Park and a 5 minute walk to the 86th Subway Station, giving you access to the 456 train. This has been great when I have had family and friends from the UK come to visit. Another advantage is that it is only a 25 minute to Hunter college which is where I study.

The cleanliness of the building overall is great. We have weekly housekeeping who change our sheets and cleaners who maintain the bathroom and kitchens too.

The residence office staff are amazing too. They are very helpful, welcoming and often put on different events such as movie nights, board-game nights and pizza nights which give us a chance to get to know the residence office staff and also other people living at the Y.

I would certainly recommend the 92Y residence as a great place to live.
