I would first like to say that I am very disappointed in the quality of service this vet has provided. Upon first adopting two kittens from this vet, they had refused to tell me all of the vital information regarding their health and history. I was told that both of the kittens adopted were vaccinated for the Felv/FIV or retroviral testing. After paying two adoption fees for the kittens, we receive the paperwork stating, “the Felv/FIV tests have already been performed on one kitten from the litter. That test was negative, however please be aware that not all kittens were tested.” Why did I have to pay $76.70 for Felv/FIV for each cat, if only one cat out of the litter was tested and that test came back negative. After about a month of having the new kittens, we later find out that one of the kittens has Feline Infectious Peritonitis (FIP), which in fact is a virus within the body from birth. This caused much distress and heartbreak on my family that I was hoping to avoid by bringing my sick kitten to the vet as soon as I noticed decreased play and appetite.
I had brought my sick kitten to this vet with the hopes of receiving honest and sincere information regarding my kitten’s health. This was not the case. Instead, I was provided with mediocre service and my kitten was provided with subpar care. The vet provided my kitten with an antibiotic for a virus. This does absolutely nothing for a virus, especially one as fatal as this one. My kitten made a rapid decline within the next day and completely stopped eating. Concerned again, I called the vet to find out that “he was sure” it was FIP and/or Feline Leukemia. The tests for FIP and Feline Leukemia were already taken during the first visit with my sick kitten, but the doctor refused to acknowledge those results. . The vet had directed I have more tests run to be sure it is FIP and Feline Leukemia. He also provided me with food to force feed my kitten. My kitten was not even strong enough to hold its head up, let alone eat. The next day, our sick kitten made a dramatic turn for the worse. After following the orders of the vet and distributing the antibiotic to my sick kitten, the kitten was not getting better. My kitten was so bad and in so much pain, I had to rush him to the emergency vet in the area.
The emergency vet immediately provided my sick kitten with the attention and care it needed. This vet also provided me with the information I needed to make a better decision on what to do for my sick kitten. The doctor was able to diagnose my sick kitten with FIP and gave me honest and sincere information about how to go about our next steps. I had already paid over $500 to the vet for tests to be run and a useless antibiotic for a fatal virus, but yet the emergency vet doctor diagnosed my sick kitten within minutes. My sick kitten dramatically got worse as the evening went on and we decided to terminate life for the kitten. My kitten was too sick and was suffering too much to be able to have a good quality of life if I had taken him home that evening. I am happy with the service and care that was provided to me by the emergency vet doctor.
After my kitten was no longer with us, I had made a call to the vet regarding the extra tests that I paid for. The receptionist replied, “I heard about that.” The fact that this doctor did not cancel these extra tests that I paid for, for my kitten who has passed at this point, disgraces me. My kitten had to be put down because of the negligence of care and the informal medical history during the first vaccination prior to adoption. This should have been prevented or at least I could have prevented the suffering of my cat. I am disgraced to be a customer of this vet and to allow him to even see my kitten when he was so sick. Please find another vet in the area that will not rob you of your money and make you pay for more tests for an animal that is passed. The public should be aware of the scams this vet is pulling and to stay clear of all of the problems this vet possesses.
