I normally frequent the gym at Hasbrouck Heights, but whenever I work out here, the equipment and large space never disappoints. The staff is very helpful and not at all lackadaisical. A few months ago, I left my drawstring bag there and I called to see if anyone had seen or retrieved it. Even though they searched in the places that I had thought it might have been, the bag was still nowhere to be found but, they said they would look out for it. The following day, they found my bag and gave me a call. I couldn't think of the next time I would be in the vicinity to pick it up (and I explained that I go to another location) so one of the staff even offered to bring it to me at the other gym (he also worked there)! I declined and ended up picking it up myself but, this goes to show that the staff has great hospitality.

Some of the worst customer service I have ever experienced.
I was originally excited to try out this gym and I couldn't wait to check out their facilities. I came in with my 3 day guest pass and the manager was the most pretentious prick. He did not greet me or shake my hand to make me feel welcome; instead, he insisted on speaking to me from his desk without standing up and making me feel welcome. The manner and tone in which he spoke to me was as if he was on a higher level then me. It was as if I was a stupid plebian who did not understand the interworkings of the guest pass.

To get to the point= He told me I could not work out that day since I had just printed out the pass the same day (Which is stated nowhere in the email confirmation)! But the way in which he spoke to me and his negative body language ensures that I will never recommend this place to anyone I know.

I had access to the Wayne 24 Hour Fitnesse before they closed that one and opened this one. Now they say that I have to pay a new rate in order to gain access to this one.

They called the cops on me, but as yet have not shown me where in my contract it says that I cannot use this facility.

This can't be right. What a rip-off.

I joined this gym about a month ago primarily because it was brand new and offered a ton a amenities (swimming pool, sauna, steam room, towel service, 2 studios, TRX section, etc). The physical state of the gym has made it difficult for me to enjoy those amenities.

The Good- It's great to have all the amenities they offer. The studios and classes are great. Despite being crowded, there's plenty of cardio/ workout machines.

The Bad-
Gym Cleanliness- The sale rep ensured me that there was a cleaning crew staffed 24/7. This is a big exaggeration. In my 15-20 visits I have not once seen a worker clean the cardio equipment. This gym has only been open 2 months and you can already see dirt accumulation on the machines. Also, the pool area is poorly maintained. The deck is filthy. I use the pool regularly and have never seen anyone at least mop the floor or wipe down the sauna. The pool was clear when I started however the past week it has been very cloudy/ terrible visibility.

General Maintenance- I was told there was an onsite mechanic to fix anything that breakdown. My first day the hot tub was closed and remained closed for over a week. Again this place has only been open 2 months

Staff- I find that the staff are typically very friendly however they never seem to be able to accommodate simple requests. For instance, they offer plastic bags in the locker room for wet bathing suits. The bags ran out my second day. Fast forward a month and the bags have not been replaced despite numerous requests at the front desk. Also, it appears nobody monitors the gym floor; weights and equipment are constantly misplaced and never returned to their proper location. I'm surprised that a higher end gym like 24 Hour Fitness does not address this by having someone on the gym floor.

Pool Staff- Friendly but generally inattentive. They don't enforce policies set forth by the gym. People frequently enter the Spa/pool area without showering. People not showering after sweaty workouts = disgusting cloudy pool. The Lifeguards are typically on their phones (hence not doing their job). The pool seems to not be properly maintained as it has become very cloudy- this may be more of a management issue but still needs to be addressed. ***The girl who works weekend nights is great. very attentive and monitors everyone.

Management- My impression is that they are very "sales focused" and neglect general operations. The staff is not sourced correctly- 4-5 front desk workers but no one monitoring the gym floor. The cleaning staff doesn't seem to have guidance- cardio machines are never cleaned, workout machines are seldom wiped down, locker rooms seem to be mopped a few times a day (rather than every hour). Also, Management seems to lack the knowledge of pool/spa management and are completely oblivious to the possible legal ramifications. Your paying lifeguards to protect the clients and maintain the pool area not to look at their phones for hours. This week there were several children playing in the pool virtually un-monitored and one accident away from a major lawsuit.

Overall this gym has potential to be great if management can get on track. I will cancel within the next month if they don't make changes. If they do make an effort I will most certainly update my review. Until then, don't pay a premium for this gym. There are many more options in the are that a cleaner and managed much better.

I have nothing but great things to say about the gym. It's clean, well maintained, I've never had to wait long for a piece of equipment, as there are multiples of everything. I have no idea how one of the reviews stated there wasn't enough parking. It's located in Willowbrook Mall.........the parking lot is enormous!

The sales people and trainers are awesome. They go out of their way to make everyone feel welcome. I have had 1 or 2 instances where some people behind the desk didn't know/or weren't told what to do with certain aspects of their business. Although that was very annoying, being a new facility, there is always going to be a learning curve.

I would definitely recommend this facility.
