HORRIBLE!! IF YOU ONLY READ ONE REVIEW I HOPE IT’S THIS ONE

I rarely complain about anything…I’m mild-mannered probably to a fault, but this was by far the worst customer experience I have ever had.

I ordered 6 custom shirts from 20 Peacocks, was told that it would take 4-6 weeks to receive my order. 8 weeks later my shirts arrived at the shop.

While I was trying on the shirts, the clerk (Minna) was extremely annoyed that I wanted to try on more than one shirt to make sure the pattern was in fact the same. I asked if they looked too big and mentioned that the sleeves were way too long. It didn’t look like a custom shirt (I have a couple others). It looked like a big shirt.

Minna (who is not a tailor – RED FLAG #1) pinned them and said that it would take another 7-8 days to get the sleeves shortened by the tailor they use. I was told there was no way to rush them with two disparate excuses: “we make no margin if we rush them - it costs too much” and “she wanted to make sure they got it right”. I conceded and left the shop.

A week later, I returned, tried on the shirts and saw that the sleeves were shortened. The sleeves still looked a little billowy, and so I asked if they had been tailored from the shoulder and was told yes. When I got home, I tried all of the shirts on and realized that they had been clearly tailored incorrectly. I couldn’t exactly tell how, but the sleeves actually looked bigger from the armhole to the cuff. It also became quickly apparent that there was no curve to the back/sides of the shirt, which was unnoticeable in the shop given that THEY DON’T HAVE A FULL LENGTH MIRROR (RED FLAG #2).

I immediately called to tell them that the sleeves were really big and that something was wrong. The slightly friendlier other clerk (don’t know her name) told me that this is why “she never lets HER new customers order more than one shirt to start so that they make sure they get the fit perfect” and that she’d call me back to see what they could do.

Guess what? No call. Three days later I get this email (copied exactly for your misspelling and grammar enjoyment):

“Here is some information to clarify your situation. The sleeves where shorten as you requested. We talked with the tailor and he told us that the sleeves are shorten from the cuff. Initially when you came for the fitting, you where asked if you would like to have anything else changed with the shirt as an addition to the sleeve length that was done last week. This being said, the armhole hasn’t changed from the initial fitting. If the armhole would be changed, we are sure that the fit would be uncomfortable and tight, specially after taking a looking at your order and notes, you requested slightly more room in the armhole.

We apologies that we aren’t able to accommodate you with additional changes since we do one complementary alteration per order. As previously mentioned, no changes has been done to the armhole since you didn’t originally ask for it.

We hope you enjoy your shirts and hope to see you again in the future.”

So to summarize – they offered nothing, claimed to have a one complementary alteration policy that isn’t present anywhere on their website or my receipt, and blamed me (the customer) for something totally different, yet admitted to their tailor attaching a cuff to a sleeve that was too wide. P.S. I checked this with another tailor and he confirmed they messed it up, which is why the sleeves now look like trash bags.

Congratulations 20 Peacocks. You win my money, but you earn this review. What I ordered were custom shirts and what I got was a truly horrible service experience and some ill-fitting shirts.
