In the new decade, Supreme initiated three greenfield projects in Guwahati, Cuttack & Erode, paving the way for deeper penetration across India. With net revenue of 7841 CR in 2021-22, Supreme's journey only seems to escalate moving forward. Supreme has also taken up many sustainability initiatives in terms of manufacturing processes that will reduce its carbon footprints.
8 decades ago, as India fought for independence, a group of enterprising promoters laid the foundation for a new venture. The Modi family established Supreme Industries Limited to produce and market various products.
The company started to bloom as its turnover reached 18.77 lakh rupees in 1965-66 which is equivalent to today's 40 CR. In August 1966, Supreme's management was taken over by the Taparia family who defined the field of plastic processing as the company's core business.
Supreme soon opened the floodgates of development and expansion, transforming the company into a leading powerhouse in the realm of plastic products, pioneering the manufacture of 'Satranj' PP mats, PVC pipes, HMHDPE film and bags, and injection moulded plastic products. In 1974, the company started manufacturing units at Andheri & Taloja
During 1981-82, the Taloja unit began producing polyethylene foam. Soon after, Supreme collaborated with Rasmussen Polymer Development AG, Switzerland to set up Siltap Chemicals Ltd. to manufacture cross laminated films. The company started spreading its roots across the nation with new manufacturing units in Jalgaon (PVC pipes and fittings) and Noida (IPD). In 1989-90, the Group crossed the landmark milestone of Rs 100 crore sales turnover and also opened a state-of-the-art Technology Centre at Goregaon, Mumbai.
Supreme scaled high and wide - from pioneering new product verticals such as plastic moulded furniture, thermoformed food service ware, crates, multilayer sheets, BOPP films and non crosslinked PE foam products to establishing new manufacturing units in Daman, Puducherry, Malanpur, Silvassa and Kolkata. Furthermore, the company reached unprecedented heights through major acquisitions and joint ventures. Supreme became the first Indian corporation in the plastic sector to accomplish ISO 14002/ISO 9002 Certification and ISO 9001 Certification, paving the way for another defining decade.
The cruise of expansion continued for Supreme with 7 new manufacturing plants. At the start of the decade, 5 new plants came up in Punjab, Rajasthan, Assam, U.P., and West Bengal which marked Supreme’s PAN India presence. Following this, in 2007-08 Supreme built a 132-acre mega-complex to produce diverse plastic products in Gadegaon, Maharashtra. Thereafter, Supreme started a production unit at Urse near Pune for protective packaging products. With projects of such a magnum scale, Supreme set things in motion for a golden decade.
Supreme established a one-of-a-kind ‘Knowledge Centre’ to train plumbing professionals. The company also built Supreme Chambers, a Platinum Rated Green Building in Andheri. Supreme started its manufacturing units in Chennai and Noida for industrial products & Hosur for protective packaging products. The company also revamped the Malanpur Plant & built extensive facilities at the Gadegaon Plant in Maharashtra. Supreme achieved two milestones in the year 2014-15. First, Supreme secured exclusive global rights to produce and market cross laminated film products. Second, the company also began commercial production of composite cylinders in Halol, Gujarat.
Supreme established two new multi-product mega complexes – the first one was at Kharagpur (West Bengal), spread across 59 Acres and another one was at Jadcherla (Telangana), spread across 50 acres. Meanwhile, the company also established a new facility in Giloth (Rajasthan) for the production of industrial moulded products. Supreme also expanded its facilities in Kanpur and Hosur. The company started manufacturing new product lines like water tanks, blow moulded furniture & rotomoulded products.
